3sidedwhole is continuing to grow in new directions. Rainwater harvesting and planting started last fall and will be blooming into an organic lavender farm before your eyes! We will be offering workshops in rain harvesting this June. It is an amazing way to utilize the rainwater that we have all seen flowing in little rivers off the land and into the arroyo. By keeping the water on the land, by directing it, slowing it down and creating as much of a sponge like surface as possible we can utilize the water we are blessed with.
Last year I was wondering and worrying about how things were going to work out at 3sw. It started raining, the sun was shining and the drops of rain turned into diamonds. Jewels, riches falling from the sky and I knew what had to happen. The land and the rain are the most valuable resources we have. As the glorious rainbow spread out across the dessert sky my heart was filled with so much gratitude and joy I could only stand in awe and let my tears join the rain water. We have what we need.
This will not happen without effort from everyone who loves the 3sw. You are one of the things we need. Free wood chips are coming to the land and need to be put into place to catch water. We need as much mulch and compost as we can get and loving care in abundance. Please help make our space a little oasis in the dessert a place to demonstrate the value and preciousness of the water falling from the sky.
Work parties for the new 3sidedwhole Organic Farm will start in full force the weekend of March 14th and 15th.
